Hereditary mucosal leukokeratosis (white sponge nevus)

An autosomal dominant condition characterised by benign, variably-sized, painless, albescent plaques which, by light microscopy, display a 'basket-weave’ epithelium, hyperparakeratosis and acanthosis. White sponge nevi occur on the mucosa of the nasopharynx, mouth, oesophagus, larynx, vagina, and anus.
